Lumen’s LMN-201 Shows Positive RePreve Results in C. difficile

October 22, 2026

Lumen Bioscience reported positive results on October 21, 2026, from the RePreve clinical trial of LMN-201, an investigational oral biologic cocktail for Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI). In the randomized, double-blind Part B comparison, global cure occurred in 83.3% of patients receiving LMN-201 alongside standard-of-care antibiotics, compared with 36.4% receiving placebo and antibiotics. The company reported statistical significance under its prespecified Bayesian analysis plan.

The findings will be presented at IDWeek 2026 in Washington, DC, on October 24. Although the results suggest potential to reduce CDI recurrence, the small randomized cohort limits the precision and generalizability of the findings.

How LMN-201 Targets C. difficile Infection

LMN-201 combines three toxin-binding proteins with an antibacterial enzyme, manufactured in engineered spirulina using Lumen’s proprietary production platform. Delivered in oral capsules, the investigational treatment is intended for use during and after antibiotic therapy to improve initial treatment outcomes and prevent recurrence.

The approach combines toxin neutralization with antibacterial activity. However, the reported clinical findings do not yet establish how much each component contributes to the observed treatment effect. LMN-201 remains investigational and has not been approved by regulators.
